Course Description:
· Mud engineering, also known as drilling fluid engineering, is a specialized field in petroleum engineering. This course covers the fundamental principles of drilling fluids (also called "muds") used in oil and gas exploration. Drilling fluids play a critical role in the drilling process by stabilizing the borehole, controlling formation pressures, cooling and lubricating the drill bit, and carrying cuttings to the surface.
· Participants will learn about the composition, properties, and functions of various drilling fluids. They will explore the selection, design, and maintenance of these fluids for different well conditions, as well as practical applications in field operations.
