This course format is where trainer will explain you the subject via online live session. Date and time are not decided yet but it will be planned within next 2 weeks after you enroll & pay for this course. Get in touch with our team if any clarification is required.
Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:
1. Become familiar with different techniques and selection of technique of MPT.
2. Become familiar with the different types of material can be tested by MPT.
3. Be familiar with the procedures, codes, standards involved with the test method.
4. Understand and recognize the typical surface discontinuities, flaws, or irregularities can be detected by MPT.
Following topics are covered in this module
1. Article-7 of ASME BPVC Code Section-V, 2021 edition– Magnetic Particle Testing
2. Article-25 of ASME BPVC Code Section-V, 2021 edition, SE-709 Standard guide for Magnetic Particle Testing.
3. Acceptance Standard, Appendix -7 of ASME BPVC Code Sec. VIII, Division -1, 2021 edition.
4. Acceptance Standards of ASME BPVC Code Sec. VIII, Division-2, 2021 edition.
5. Acceptance standards of ASME BPVC Code Sec.-I, Power Boilers, 2021 edition.
6. Acceptance Standards of ASME BPVC Code B31.1 Power Piping and ASME B31.3 Process Piping.
7. Procedures, Work Instructions, Technique Sheets, Report writing/preparation
The ancient Greeks, near the city of Magnesia, knew about strange and rare earth stone with the power to attract Iron. What started in the year 1868 as a method of detecting defects in cannon barrels and other ferromagnetic components by magnetizing them and passing a magnetic compass over them has become an extensively used NDE Method in defence sector. Now MPT is used in all industrial sectors nuclear, aerospace, oil and gas, railways, automotive, petrochemical, steel structures, and power generation to examine a variety of welds and components. Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT) is very popular and fastest method of NDT for detection of surface and sub surface discontinuities in the Ferromagnetic Materials which can be easily magnetized compare to Liquid Penetrant Testing. Magnetic particle testing (MT) is a non-destructive testing (NDT) method for detecting discontinuities that are primarily linear and located at or near the surface of ferromagnetic components and structures. The principle of the method is that, the ferromagnetic material is magnetized using Electromagnetic/Permanent Yoke or Prod or other means, and applying ferromagnetic particles (the examinations medium) on the surface during examination. Surface and Sub surface discontinuities that are to the magnetic flux line will produce a Magnetic leakage field that will attract magnetic Dry or Wet particles and forms a visible indication. The curriculum covers all aspects of magnetic particle testing such as, Magnetic Principles & Theory, Flux Leakage, Magnetic Fields, fundamentals of Alternating Current & Direct Current, direct & indirect magnetization, fluorescent & dry powder applications, various techniques etc. Only those metals classified as ferromagnetic can be effectively inspected by MPT. Upon Completion of the course a certificate of participation will be issued to the participant.
