NACE code had requirements for Sulfuric acid tank design and inspection over and above the applicable vertical storage tank design code API 650. Various concentrations of acid had totally different tank design and materials requirements. Why Anodic protection is used instead of Cathodic protection is also discussed. In many cases, one uses double wall non-metallic tanks for storage of acids. However, larger storage tanks are fabricated in Carbon steel complying with API 650 or eq. codes. Phosphoric acid tanks are usually rubber lined or FRP is used for tanks. Also discuss the cases of acid spills or explosions and how to mitigate that. There are various methods of tank inspection which includes visual inspections, UT measurements etc. for bottom, shell and roof plate which are discussed.

Applications of Sulfuric and phosphoric acids
Sulfuric acid is called "king of acids" because of its direct and indirect applications in the manufacture of many chemicals including Fertilizers, Petroleum Refining and in processing metals. Phosphoric acid also used in above industries and in detergents, food additives, removal of rust, and in pharmaceuticals. Both Sulfuric and phosphoric acids bulk storage are required in , Fertilizers, Chemicals, Steel inductry etc.
